Hi everyone! I’m happy to be linking up with Rebecca Jo, as always, on this Thankful Thursday. It’s been feeling like an overwhelming week for some reason, plus a 6-day work week with another Saturday for me. All that means I’m glad to be looking for the little things to be grateful for!
Caleb Speaking: I’m sure you’re all aware of Caleb’s speech delay, but you guys, he’s finally started to talk! This is the greatest thing I am grateful for in a long time. For months, all he’s said is “uh oh,” and we discovered last week that he knows a slew of words: “yellow,” “purple,” “papa,” “ball,” “blue” (pronounced “bow”), “love you” (“luhhh youuu”), and “cheese,” for pictures (“cheeeeee”). He knows the hard colors and says them perfectly, isn’t that a riot? Still struggling with the easy ones (why?) but I’m pretty impressed that his first real word is yellow. Baby genius?
Gutter fixed: We FINALLY got our gutter fixed that was damaged in our epic windstorm back in March. It’s been hanging off our house for two months. Pretty sure our neighbors hated us, but you guys… mother nature! It only cost us a hundred bucks, and one company quoted us nearly $500. No thanks!
Successful Marketing: We had a new event at work last week, a trivia night. I didn’t run it or attend, but I’m head of marketing so I worked really hard to get the word out. I’m happy to say that we had 7 teams show up with a total of 30 people! Wahoo!
Awesome Presentation: A colleague and I took a course on Reader’s Advisory and were asked to prepare a presentation for our staff meeting last week. It went really well and we received a lot of compliments on it. I’m getting slightly more confident with my public speaking and presentation skills.
Water Park: So we had our twice yearly family overnight trip to the water park hotel and it was a lot of fun! The kids had a ball in the water and then we all had dinner together and hung out in the hotel rooms. Caleb didn’t sleep great, and the kids were a little mischievous at dinner, but I really look forward to these mini trips! It’s always so fun staying in a hotel and escaping for a little while!
Cookie Cake: The next night, we had dinner at my house (Jerry cooked alfredo for the family) and had a cookie cake for my brother’s birthday. Y’all know I love me some cookie cake.
Primitive Place: Got my newest issue of A Primitive Place magazine in the mail. Not sure when I’ll have time to read it, but it’s always a good mail day when I get one of those in the mail instead of just junk or bills. One day I will own my dream farm house and be in that magazine.
A Gripping Book: I always have at least one book going and enjoy most of them quite a bit, but you know when you find an amazing book that you just get sucked into? I’ve been reading one of those books this week. I couldn’t put it down, couldn’t stop thinking about it. I always look forward to bedtime because it’s my time to read, but I’ve been looking extra forward to it this week! My review for the book: My Lovely Wife in the Psych Ward by Mark Lukach.
Fun Class for Work: As a state certified public librarian, I’m required to take a certain number of continuing ed credits per year, so I’m always on the look out for interesting and relevant classes to take. Yesterday, I took a full day class on graphic design with a colleague whom I super enjoy and it was GREAT! We also got a lunch break, so the two of us went to a cute little diner and checked out the library since the class was held in a neighboring town. I’d been to that library before, but they recently remodeled and we walked around and pointed out the things we liked and might want to use at our library. Overall, a productive and fun day!
Bestie’s Birthday: I am grateful that 28 years ago today, one of my besties in the whole world was born. Katie, although we had a falling out for a few years, I am more grateful than words can say that we reconnected after college and fell back into our friendship like nothing had ever happened and no time had ever passed. You are one of a kind and I am lucky you’re in my life. I hope your birthday is amazing because you sure are!
Humor: HAHAHA, don’t mind me, but I amuse myself a lot. Indulge me for a second here with my funny nonsense of the week. Is it narcissistic to tell you all that I crack myself up? Because it’s true. I do. #OnFireThisWeek #DoYouCapitalizeHashtagsOrAmIUncool?
It’s the little things, am I right? Please share with me what you’re grateful for this week! I’d love to hear it!
